Brandon David Beatson, free lance photographer, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2013, in Jaco, Costa Rica, where he was living and working as a resident photographer for two surfing schools.
Brandon was an intelligent and compassionate young man with a charming and witty sense of humor. He was a dedicated San Francisco Giants fan who had dozens of Giants hats and logo clothing and even indulged a few superstitions in his desire not to jinx his team. Although soft spoken in everyday life, Brandon could use a booming voice to get the AT & T Park crowd cheering for his team. Brandon was also devoted to his chocolate Lab, Rex. Brandon and Rex had an incredible bond, and Brandon taught Rex many tricks and had Rex so well trained, the dog always walked without a leash.
Brandon graduated from Burlingame High School in 1998, the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2006, and attended the Academy of Art University in 2012. He studied history and business in college, but his passion and talent for photography made it the natural choice for his professional life. Brandon was an extraordinary photographer with an excellent eye for composition and detail.
Fortunately, for his many family and friends, he has left a wonderful legacy of over 29.000 photos. It is the intent for the Brandon Beatson Photography Company to continue showing his work on his site, photo events, competitions, and in galleries. It is the goal to have any proceeds from his art to be directly donated to three charities: The Giants Community Fund, Good Tidings Foundation, and Golden Gate Lab Rescue.
